  The University of Johannesburg Community Engagement celebrated Mandela Day in style. O n Nelson Mandela Day the University of Johannesburg Community Engagement took the initiative to visit one of the biggest hospitals in South Africa, Baragwanath hospital in Soweto to honor our late tata Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela. The volunteers and some of the UJ staff members dedicated 67 minutes of their day to give back to the community, as UJ does not only value the quality of education but also values its surrounding community. It was quite an experience for us as volunteers to experience the medical world from the inside, and I must say doctors are truly our heroes. The volunteers and UJ staff members joined by other non-profit organizations did a lot of activities like cleaning the windows, picking up papers, gardening, and donated food and other cleaning utensils. Together we are and together we can is a non-profit organization situated in Pretoria, Mamelodi.    This organization educates the public about gender based violence, it also helps to clear the misinformation and conspiracy theories against gender based violence.As a nation we are suffering from a disease called gender based violence of which is much of a pandemic like Covid 19.Gender based violence is any form of violence aimed  against a person because of their gender, most commonly women are the one affected by this disease. Statics show that more women are being abused and violated therefore, a lot of misinformation and conspiracy theory arise concerning gender based violence. One of three girls overall will, in her lifetime endure savagery just on the grounds that she is female.
